Find the model number on the back of your gauge, next to the serial number. Scanning the QR code on the back opens the page for your model.

SM-1024 10″–24″

  1. Pick your row. For 10″–17″, leave the bottom slide closed and read the closed row. For 17″–24″, pull the bottom slide out until it stops (extended) and read the extended row.
  2. Reach both walls. Set the bottom slide’s end against one wall, then pull the top slide out until its tip meets the opposite wall. It stays where you leave it.
  3. Read. Press the gauge lightly between the walls and read the number at the red index.
  4. Put it away. Push each slide home until it clicks. Store and hang it with both slides closed.

SM-1434 14″–34″

  1. Pick your row. For 14″–24″, leave the bottom slide closed and read the closed row. For 24″–34″, pull the bottom slide out until it stops (extended) and read the extended row.

Which size do I need?

The SM-1024 covers openings from 10″ to 24″; the SM-1434 covers 14″ to 34″. If you’re not sure, a rough measurement tells you which range you’re in. Between 14″ and 24″ either gauge works.

Can I measure depth or height?

Yes. It measures any straight inside dimension in its range: width, depth, or the height of an opening.

Can the slides come out?

No. The slides are held in permanently so they can’t be lost. They pull out to their stops and push back until they click.

The reading looks a little off

  • Check you’re reading the right row: closed row with the bottom slide closed, extended row with it pulled out to its stop.
  • Read while the gauge is pressed lightly between the walls, not after lifting it out.
  • Make sure both tips touch the walls, not a drawer slide, lip or trim.

Care

Simply | Measure is made of matte PLA. Don’t leave it in a hot car or anywhere above 120°F (49°C). Wipe it clean with a damp cloth.
